Semrush is best known for search engine tools. Its AI Visibility Toolkit adds AI answers to that world. If you already use Semrush, this is the natural place to look. If you do not, this page helps you decide whether a monthly toolkit is what you need yet. All Semrush facts are from its own pages, read on 2026-10-15.

The short answer

Pick the Semrush toolkit if you want ongoing daily tracking next to your search tools. Pick AI Pick Check if you want a single clear read of where you stand, with a ranked list of fixes, and no monthly bill.

Reading the numbers

Semrush's pages do not agree with each other on every detail, so here is what each one said.

  • Its AI pricing page lists the toolkit at $99 a month per domain, billed yearly, with 25 custom prompts and daily rankings.
  • Its help article lists $99 a month and says the toolkit has no free trial and that a paid subscription is required. The pricing page has a generic seven-day trial in its footer without saying whether it applies.
  • Its help article gives ChatGPT and Google AI Mode as examples for prompt tracking and brand performance. The pricing page names ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity.
  • Its main pricing page also bundles AI features into its search plans. The first paid tier, called SEO, is $117.33 a month billed yearly ($139 billed monthly) and lists AI search tracking. The Starter and Pro+ tiers list prompt limits of 50 and 100, tracked daily. That page does not use the name "AI Visibility Toolkit".

Where pages differ, we show both. Please check the page that applies to you before you buy.

What Semrush does better

  • Daily prompt tracking. You can watch a prompt day by day. Our audit is a snapshot.
  • A big toolbox around it. Competitor research, prompt research and an AI search site audit sit in the same account, according to its help article.
  • A visibility score against rivals. Semrush's help article says its AI Visibility Score compares how often your brand is mentioned with the median number of mentions for your top industry competitors.
  • Room to grow. Extra prompts, extra domains and extra users are sold as add-ons. The pricing page lists extra users from $45 a month. The help article says each user needs their own subscription at $99, so ask which applies.
  • One login for search and AI. If your team already lives in Semrush, that matters.

What AI Pick Check does better

  • Cost to find out. $39 once, against $99 a month, which is about $1,188 over a year if you stay.
  • Buyer-style questions. We write them without your name, three ways each, plus five questions on your own facts.
  • Margins of error. Every question is asked twice on each assistant and we show the spread.
  • A fix plan. Each fix is tied to evidence we collected.

A note on our own method. Three of our four assistants are asked through their own makers' APIs. The fourth, Google's Gemini model, is reached through Perplexity's API and searches with Perplexity's web search, not Google Search. Our methodology page explains this, and every Gemini answer in a report is labelled with that route.

Who should pick which

The Semrush toolkit suits an in-house marketer or agency who already uses Semrush and will check results weekly. It also suits anyone who needs several domains tracked over time.

AI Pick Check suits an owner who needs one answer: am I named, who is named instead, and what should I change first? A monthly Monitor plan is coming soon for people who want repeat runs.

A worked example

Picture a fictional accountancy firm, Example Ledger Co, at example.com. The owner suspects assistants never mention the firm when someone asks for a bookkeeper for a small shop.

With the Semrush toolkit, an assistant at the firm would add that prompt and a few similar ones, then look at the daily ranking and the visibility score against rivals. It suits someone who will keep looking.

With AI Pick Check, the owner would pay once, read one report, and see how often the firm was named in 160 answers, who was named instead, which pages the assistants cited, and which fixes to make first. After making them, the owner would use the free re-run.

Neither path is wrong. They answer different questions: "how is this moving?" and "what do I do first?"

How to check it worked

Before you pay for either, ask five buyer questions by hand in a fresh chat. Write down whether you are named. After you make changes, ask again in two weeks. Compare your notes with the tool's view.

What this won't do

  • No tool can make an assistant name you, and no tool can promise more sales.
  • We have not tested the Semrush toolkit. We cannot say how accurate its scores are.
  • Add-ons and plan rules shift often. Our table is a dated snapshot.
  • This page is written by the makers of AI Pick Check.
